2022 - Lessons learned, in

chronological order

transcribed from journal

  • Those with the least power to influence change have the best ideas for how to bring about change.

  • It takes confidence to admit uncertainty.

  • Near death experiences give life new meaning - the most important thing becomes doing what you love.

  • Being a good listener is one of the most admirable qualities.

  • Pay attention to how people make you feel. It's not okay to repeatedly forgive those who repeatedly bring you down.

  • Writing can be healing; equally, it can spiral you negatively. Don't fall victim to your own words, they are merely constructions on a page.

  • Books are complex organisms.

  • Being sensitive is not a negative trait.

  • Meaningful conversations makes me feel completely alive and fulfilled.

  • All we have is time. Stop saying you don't have enough of it. All you have is this present moment.

  • One brilliant thing about looking at yourself is that it extends your empathy towards others.

  • Don't tell your story from the victim perspective. This relives you of the responsibility to accept that your choices had a role in bad experiences. Everyone is a victim, everyone wants sympathy. Every group of people competes for the place of having it the worst.

  • The clearest sign of intellectual chemistry is not agreeing with someone. It's enjoying your disagreements with them.

  • Wisdom doesn't come from experience - it comes from reflecting on experience.

  • The responsibility you hold is not to please past generations, but to improve things for the next generation. It's more important to make your children proud than your parents proud.

  • The best way to support others is not to cheer them up. Its to show up.

  • Things without meaning are the most beautiful ones.
